Essential Management Skills - Oldham 

This highly interactive and participative ‘Essential Management Skills’ course is for Managers and Leaders of Greater Manchester based growing B2B, Retail and B2C businesses and is designed to develop your Management & Leadership skills and capabilities, to enable future business growth. 

Using a blend of theory, interactive group exercises, reflective and collaborative learning and case studies, we will look at a combination of skills and behaviours designed to increase your confidence, enabling you to become a more effective manager / leader.

This course is fully funded by ERDF.


Owners or executive level leaders of businesses based in the Oldham area who are committed to driving the growth of their business through development of their leadership and management skills.  Businesses must meet ERDF eligibility criteria: 

  • Business that are looking to increase their turnover and / or the number of staff they employ 
  • Business is based in Greater Manchester
  • Employ less than 250 staff (FTE)
  • Turnover less than 50 million Euros or balance sheet less than 40 million Euros
  • Not have exceeded 200,000 Euro in State Aid in a rolling 3-year period 

Management Development Stats

Only 47% of managers feel they have the skills and knowledge they need.


Less than 10% of new managers receive formal training in the first 2 years.


1 million managers will be needed by 2020.


71% of the leaders surveyed by CMI confess they either don’t train their first time managers or could train them better.
